Color Printing Pros now offers a new line of metallic printing inks. Sales and marketing literature can now be designed and printed creating spectacular effects. These Colored Metallics can easily be achieved by using photoshop and offer a true metallic luster that will upgrade the look of any printed product.

By combining a metallic ink and standard inks, one may create printed images having a dynamic appearance: an image viewed under specular reflection may be considerably different from the same image viewed under non-specular reflection. Designs become highlighted under specular reflection, yielding interesting visual effects. Make your printed product stand out from the crowd with these colored metallics that create dynamic effects and help generate a must-have appeal.

HOW TO SET UP A COLORED METALLIC PRINTING FILE?

With our Colored Metallics, you can make any CYMK color or full color image into a metallic color.
ALL COLORED METALLICS MUST BE CREATED IN PHOTOSHOP.

STEP ONE:

After creating your design, select what you would like to be metallic with the magic wand or selection tool. Make sure when you make your selection, you only select the area that you want metallic.
This system WILL NOT WORK ON GRADIENTS so do not include them in your selection. The Words COLORED METALLICS can NOT be made into colored metallic because it is a blend....

STEP TWO:

After your selection is made, go to the channels palette, then the channels menu, and select "NEW SPOT CHANNEL"....
When the "NEW SPOT CHANNEL" window shows up make sure your settings show SPOT CHANNEL OPTIONS (give name your want to call it such as "colored metallic channel").
Under "ink characteristics", color should be set to: cyan (C) 0%, magenta (M) 0%, yellow (Y) 0%, black (K) 100%.
Solidity should be set to 100%.

STEP THREE:

Once your channel has been set and saved, you will have black parts indicating what will be metallic and white parts will be printed as a normal CYMK.
Save your file as a "Photoshop DCS 2.0" file. Make sure format options are:
Preview: Macintosh (8 bits/pixel)
Single file DCS, no composite
Encoding: Binary
Include halftone screen checked

The extension for this file will be .EPS.
REMEMBER: COLORED METALLICS WORK BETTER WITH LIGHTER COLORS.

If you think this process is very expensive- you'd be wrong. We print your card with a turnaround time of 5-7 working days on gang runs. This way you are only paying for the space on the press you need for the size card you are printing. Our equipment is all state of the art and you can expect brilliant color printing.
